Port Orchard FC playing Cascadia Premier League season-opener Sunday

Port Orchard FC head coach Patrick Leonard guided the club to the Cascadia Premier League Division 2 title in 2023.

The Port Orchard FC men's soccer club is hosting its 2024 season-opener Sunday at Kitsap Bank Stadium against the Tacoma Stars Reserves. Kickoff is 3 p.m.

POFC earned promotion into the Cascadia Premier League's first division after capturing the CPL 2 championship in its inaugural season in 2023. Port Orchard finished off a 12-0 season with a 4-2 victory over Nido Aguila 2 at the Washington Premier Field Complex in Puyallup.

With Patrick Leonard returning for his second season as POFC head coach, Sunday's match against Tacoma is the first of eight league matches. The rest of the club's schedule in the CPL Rainier Division is June 8 away at Sporting International (time TBD); June 9 at home against Eastside FC (3 p.m.); June 16 at home against Washington Premier FC (3 p.m.); June 22 away at Tacoma Stars Reserves (1:45 p.m.); July 7 at home against Sporting International (3 p.m.); July 10 away at Eastside FC (7:30 p.m.); and July 17 away at Washington Premier FC (7:30 p.m.). The CPL playoffs are scheduled for July 26 (semifinals) and July 28 (championship game).

The club also has two home friendlies against FC Inter on July 14 (3 p.m.) and against FC Oly on July 20 (6 p.m.).

POFC won a 6-3 friendly against Steel United on May 19. Former Bremerton High School standout Nick Riders tallied the game-winning goal.
