Paul vs Tyson LIVE: Weigh-in results as Mike Tyson slaps Jake Paul in heated face-off

Mike Tyson slapped Jake Paul in a heated final face-off for their boxing match, leading the YouTuber to say the heavyweight legend “hits like a b***h.”

Tyson, 58, will fight YouTuber Paul, 27, in Texas on Friday (15 November), in the former heavyweight champion’s first professional bout in 19 years.

And one night before that divisive fight, Tyson and Paul tipped the scales at a weigh-in, as fans in Dallas cheered the boxing great and booed the social-media star. As Paul and Tyson came face to face on-stage, the latter slapped Paul, before security separated the pair.

“Talking’s over,” Tyson told host Ariel Helwani, before refusing to explain why he hit Paul or answer more questions. Paul then said: “I didn’t even feel it. He’s angry. He’s an angry little elf. Mike Tyson, I thought that was a cute slap, buddy, but tomorrow you’re getting knocked the f*** out. I’m f***ing him up.”

Paul also screamed: “He hits like a b***, it’s personal now, he must die!” Re-live all the action below:

The opponents face off, and Tyson, 58, slaps Paul!!! He and Paul are separated by security.

“Talking’s over,” Tyson says, before refusing to answer more questions.

Paul: “I didn’t even feel it. He’s angry. He’s an angry little elf. Mike Tyson, I thought that was a cute slap, but tomorrow night I’m knocking you the f*** out. I’m f***ing him up.

“He hits like a b***, it’s personal now, he must die!” Paul screams.

Now here come Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano, ahead of their rematch tomorrow night.

Taylor won the first fight narrowly in 2022, in the biggest bout in women’s boxing history, retaining the undisputed lightweight belts.

This time, Taylor puts the undisputed *super*-lightweight titles on the line against Serrano, who is the unified featherweight champion.

137.4lb for Serrano. The same for Taylor.

Serrano is asked what she said to Taylor during the face-off. “I told her this is our time,” says the Puerto Rican. “This is the defining moment for all women in boxing. We worked really hard to be in this position. I couldn’t have asked for a better dance partner than Katie to showcase women’s boxing.”

Taylor: “I think this is just another huge, monumental moment for women’s boxing. Myself and Amanda are just forever grateful. Tomorrow I think is gonna be the biggest night for women’s boxing ever.” She tells her Irish compatriots: “Thank you so much guys for all the support. I’m just so grateful.”

This one should be a corker, like the first edition of this match-up.

The pair will clash for the WBC welterweight title, with Barrios currently holding the interim belt.

Ramos comes in at 146.4lb, before Barrios tips the scales at 146.8lb.

Barrios, who fights out of Texas, will be elevated to regular champion when the first bell sounds tomorrow.

Ramos: “Tomorrow night, he’s gonna have to get through me first [before facing the big names he’s been linked to], and it’s gonna be two Mexican warriors fighting for the championship of the world. You can’t miss it.”

Barrios, on the prospect of a fight with Jaron “Boots” Ennis next year: “That’s the plan, to defend, to unify with one of the other current champions.”

Tony Bellew confirms clash at Paul v Tyson press conference: ‘It’s not talk, it’s a promise’

Thursday 14 November 2024 23:50 , Jack Rathborn

Tony Bellew crashed the press conference for Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson on Wednesday, holding a “Fisher Price” microphone as he was accompanied by an old man in boxing gloves – before the pair were kicked out.

Britain’s Bellew, a former world champion, was in the crowd wearing a t-shirt showing the logo of a betting site, and he was standing alongside an older man in a boxing robe and gloves. Bellew also had a microphone, with which he spoke over a journalist who was asking a question inside Toyota Music Factory.

And the Liverpudlian confirms an altercation with security on his way out, telling Talk Sport: “They were all big boys. One gave me a little push and I said, ‘just don’t touch me, I’m going to walk quite happily boys, but just don’t put your hands on me.’ He said, ‘Okay’. When we got to the policeman with the gun in his waist, the guy gave me a little shove in the back.

How much will Jake Paul and Mike Tyson earn for blockbuster fight?

Thursday 14 November 2024 23:30 , Jack Rathborn

While the fight purses have not been officially disclosed, Paul claimed at a press conference in August: “I’m here to make $40m and knock out a legend.”

$40m equates to roughly £31.1m, while Tyson will earn approximately $20m (£15.4m), according to friend and former UFC champion Henry Cejudo.

British heavyweight offered comeback against Mike Tyson

Thursday 14 November 2024 23:00 , Jack Rathborn

“Yeah I had all of that [comeback offers],” former British heavyweight champion Julius Francis tells Talk Sport. “There was all of this to have a fight again with Mike Tyson. All of this like ‘get you a rematch with him’ and stuff like that.

“Yes it would be nice, the money-side of it. But I say for me personally, the integrity and being able to live with yourself. At the end of the day you have to sell your soul, and I don’t think it is really for me.

“I could jump back in the ring, but I couldn’t do anything near what I could and there are limits. Tyson has got himself into shape for a 58-year-old but when you are fighting a 27-year-old the downside is he could be tired after a few rounds. He should be able to destroy Paul but old injuries could come back and that’s the danger.”

Mike Tyson takes ferocious approach in open workout for Jake Paul fight

Thursday 14 November 2024 22:30 , Jack Rathborn

Mike Tyson rolled back the years with an aggressive approach in his open workout for Friday’s fight with Jake Paul, to the delight of the fans in attendance.

The former heavyweight champion, 58, will box YouTube star Paul, 27, at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas this week. The fight will stream live on Netflix in an unprecedented move.

And ahead of the controversial bout – Tyson’s first professional contest since 2005 – “Iron Mike” and Paul took to the ring inside Toyota Music Factory to run through some moves for fans.

Many videos of Tyson hitting pads have gone viral in recent years, with viewers often remarking that the American’s speed and power have remained intact.

Mike Tyson makes Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk rematch prediction

Thursday 14 November 2024 22:00 , Jack Rathborn

Mike Tyson has backed Tyson Fury to gain revenge on Oleksandr Usyk in their heavyweight rematch in December.

“Usyk is the best heavyweight in the world at the moment. But I’m going for Fury to beat him,” Tyson told the Mail.

“Why? Because I’m a fan. Because his father gave him my name. I’m not abandoning him now.”

Anthony Joshua makes prediction for controversial Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul fight

Thursday 14 November 2024 21:30 , Jack Rathborn

“[Tyson] is older now, I pray that he comes out healthy,” Joshua said on The Jonathan Ross Show this week. “I think Jake Paul [wins] because of youth, that’s the only thing.”

Speaking about influencer boxing more generally, the former heavyweight champion added: “I personally think it’s really good. I think the boxing hardcores, they don’t like it, because they think, ‘Why are they disrespecting our sport?’

“But I think that [influencer] brings all these people into boxing, which benefits everyone else. Everyone viewing helps.”

Mike Tyson unimpressed by rules for Jake Paul fight

Thursday 14 November 2024 21:00 , Jack Rathborn

Mike Tyson believes the rules for Friday’s fight against Jake Paul are for women.

After fighting against Roy Jones Jr in an exhibition fight in 2020 over eight two-minute rounds, the same format as Paul v Tyson, ‘Iron Mike’ was left unimpressed.

“I’m sure they had their reasons but the women fight two minutes,” Tyson said at the time. “But this is bigger than me, it’s not all about me, so who am I to talk. I’m just happy that we’re doing it.”

Jake Paul told he should be ‘ashamed of himself’ for fighting Mike Tyson

Thursday 14 November 2024 20:20 , Jack Rathborn

“Jake Paul should be absolutely ashamed of himself. He’s an absolute laughingstock,” UFC legend Michael Bisping tells Mirror Fighting.

“He’s an actor. He’s not a fighter. He’s pulling the wool over a young generation’s eyes that he’s a bad*** and he’s willing to take on all these fights. We know what he’s doing.

“He’s cherry-picking guys that are at the end of their careers. Now he’s cherry-picking a guy that long retired that’s 58-years-old. Mike Tyson is an absolute legend of the sport.”

The awkward truth behind Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson

Thursday 14 November 2024 18:30 , Jack Rathborn

here is no hate, no love, the gloves are big and the rounds will be short when Mike Tyson and Jake Paul fight on Friday night.

It makes no difference if the men share fifty million dollars for their carnival night in a Texas ring. It is one of the purest fights for money in the dirty, old boxing game; it’s not personal, it’s just cash. And, lots of it.

Tyson is 58 now, reformed, grey at the edges, his eyes have softened with his belly and each attempt at spitting venom sounds fake. Well, it probably is, so what? He was once Iron Mike, the youngest heavyweight champion in history, so please show some respect.

Tyson stays quiet in tense press conference

Thursday 14 November 2024 13:55 , Lawrence Ostlere

Mike Tyson wasn’t in the mood for talking in the final news conference before the 58-year-old former heavyweight champion faces YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul.

Tyson had terse answers for all the questions Wednesday night, two nights before the fight against Paul, who is 31 years younger, at the home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys.

“I’ve said everything I had to say,” Tyson said in one of several attempts to get him to say more. “I’m just looking forward to fighting.”

“It’s cute,” Paul said of the terse Tyson. “I fear no man, so I want him to be that old savage Mike.”

Paul couldn’t even get Tyson to respond by wearing what the 27-year-old said was a “diamond-spiked ear cover.” It was Paul’s jab at Tyson over the Hall of Famer infamously biting the ear of Evander Holyfield in a 1997 fight.

Tyson did get briefly riled up when somebody asked twice what he would do if he lost. His last sanctioned bout was in 2005. Tyson fought Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition four years ago.

“I am not going to lose,” Tyson said, his voice rising the second time it was asked. “Did you hear what I said?”

Jake Paul trolls Mike Tyson with $100,000 ear cover after infamous bite

Thursday 14 November 2024 09:48 , Jack Rathborn

Jake Paul has trolled Mike Tyson by wearing a $100,000 ear cover in reference to the former heavyweight world champion’s infamous history with biting opponents.

Reports suggest the item from Vobara is worth six figures, with Paul acquiring it ahead of Friday’s bout on Netflix.

Paul made reference to protecting his ear in a swipe related to Tyson and his notorious move to chew down on rival Evander Holyfield’s ear in their 1997 heavyweight rematch.

Mike Tyson interview: ‘I’m not a nice person, there’s nothing nice about me’

Thursday 14 November 2024 01:40 , Alex Pattle

“There’s nothing nice about me,” Mike Tyson said, speaking to The Independent and other publications over Zoom, two weeks before his fight with Jake Paul.

“I’m not a nice person. I’m a decent person, I try to do the right thing. But a nice person, I am not. Anybody with the [idea] that I’m a nice person is gonna be disappointed. I’m just not. I don’t make people happy for no reason, I’m just who I am. I’m not trying to gain friends, that’s basically what I’m saying.

“I don’t want to make friends with you, I don’t care if you put me on your yacht, I don’t give a f***. I’m not gonna ever be nice to nobody; I’ll be kind, but never nice.”

Paul, in his own unique way, has single-handedly ruined the boxing careers of many UFC stars and exposed them inside the boxing ring as flat-footed swingers; now the former child performer is hunting down faded kings of the ring. It is the unmade Rocky movie with a twist: can the old king beat the young kid? It’s the age-old boxing tale.

It has, obviously, been called a freak show, a meaningless event, a danger to Tyson’s health and a threat to the dignity of boxing, having been rearranged after Tyson suffered a health scare.

But here’s what you don’t understand about the fight…

Paul vs Tyson press conference LIVE

Wednesday 13 November 2024 17:00 , Alex Pattle

Jake Paul and Mike Tyson are just two days away from one of the biggest and most controversial fights in years, as they prepare to square off in Dallas.

And ahead of their officially-sanctioned, professional bout, the Americans will share a stage at Toyota Music Factory on Wednesday (13 November), with each man set to talk up his chances of winning – amid conflicting predictions in the boxing world.

On Tuesday, 58-year-old Tyson and YouTube star Paul, 27, conducted an open workout in the Music Factory, with the former heavyweight champion taking an aggressive approach. His speed and power look to have waned somewhat, but Tyson seemed focused as his fight with Paul edges closer – five months after it was first due to take place, before Tyson suffered an ulcer flare-up on a flight.

Barring any late issues, the bout is finally set to go ahead on Friday (15 November), at Texas’s AT&T Stadium: home to the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys. And the fight, in an unprecedented move, will stream live on Netflix.
