KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The National Women’s Soccer League revealed the 2024 NWSL Award finalists, and multiple Kansas City Current players have been nominated for awards like Rookie of the Year, Defender of the Year, Goalkeeper of the Year, Coach of the Year and Most Valuable Player.
The NWSL has added a category this season to recognize the Midfielder of the Year.

Fans have the chance to vote in the final round of the 2024 NWSL Awards, which will be decided in two rounds.
In the first round of voting, players, owners, general managers, coaches and the media voted on individual awards to determine the finalists. Players made up 50% of the weighted scale used in the preliminary round, followed by owners/GMs/coaches at 25% and the media at 25%.
Here are the awards that KC Current players were nominated for:
Most Valuable Player: Temwa Chawinga (KC)
Midfielder of the Year: Vanessa DiBernardo (KC), Lo’eau LaBonta (KC)
Rookie of the Year, presented by Ally: Claire Hutton (KC)
Coach of the Year: Vlatko Andonovski (KC)

Fans wishing to vote on the individual award winners, Best XI First Team and Best XI Second Team, can access voting here.
All votes must be submitted by Friday, Nov. 15 at 2 p.m.
Award winners will be announced in the days surrounding the 2024 NWSL Championship, which is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 23 at CPKC Stadium in Kansas City.
