Ligue 1 side ‘categorically’ deny move for €150 million-rated Barcelona star

According to a report from L’Equipe (via SPORT), Paris Saint-Germain have firmly denied making any offer for Barcelona’s rising star Lamine Yamal.

The club has categorically stated that they are well aware of Yamal’s situation and have not taken any official steps to sign him. This denial comes after claims of a staggering €200 million offer allegedly being rejected by Barcelona.

Enric Masip, a member of Barcelona’s sports commission, hinted in an interview that PSG had made such a proposal.

However, this statement has not gone down well with the French club. PSG officials have expressed disbelief over the claims, especially since they have previously clarified that they were not pursuing the player.

PSG know Yamal won’t leave

While PSG acknowledge that their sporting director, Luis Campos, has communicated with Yamal’s agent, Jorge Mendes, they insist that these discussions were entirely normal.

Such conversations are a routine part of the transfer market and involve agents of numerous players. However, PSG remain adamant that no formal approach or monetary figure was ever presented for Yamal, reinforcing their stance that the player is not leaving Barcelona.

The situation highlights PSG’s focus on maintaining financial discipline, especially in light of UEFA’s financial fair play regulations.

After the uncertainties surrounding Kylian Mbappe’s potential departure to Real Madrid earlier this year, PSG evaluated various options to strengthen their squad.

PSG respect Barcelona

Despite considering big names, the club consciously decided against pursuing any blockbuster transfers this summer to ensure compliance with financial regulations.

It is evident that PSG respect Barcelona’s position regarding Yamal. The French club has opted to avoid unnecessary complications and has made it clear that their interest in the player has not gone beyond casual inquiries.

For now, the young Barcelona talent seems firmly rooted in Catalonia, with no imminent move to Paris on the horizon. This development reflects both clubs’ differing priorities and PSG’s commitment to balanced financial planning.
