Legendary AC Milan & Real Madrid Coach Insists Inter Milan Must Aim Hight In The Champions League: “It Would Be Insulting No To”
Legendary Italian manager Fabio Capello believes Inter Milan have no other option but to set big objectives in the Champions League.
The new European campaign will kick off on Tuesday, marking the beginning of a new era.
UEFA have decided to shake things off by implementing a new and revolutionized format. All 36 clubs will be pitted in the same group with each participant playing eight group-league fixtures against eight different opponents and from all pots.
The first eight teams will directly qualify for the Round of 16. On the other hand, those who finish between 9th and 24th places will take part in a playoff round.
For his part, Capello is anticipating next Wednesday’s clash between Manchester City and Inter. This will be a rematch for the 2023 final.
“I’m waiting for Man City vs Inter. The last twenty minutes in Istanbul have remained in my head and I’d like to see if the gap has decreased, as suggested by the last stretch in the final,” said the former England manager in an interview with Il Corriere della Serra via FcInterNews.
“Perhaps Inzaghi should have been more careful, but that experience will help him improve. He’ll have to rotate more often, to maintain his players’ best physical shape.”
Fabio Capello Feels Inter Milan Must Challenge For Top-Eight Finish
Capello is also curious to see how Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram will fare against the Citizens.
“Lautaro has the potential to do even more. One of the things to watch in this clash is the growth of Lautaro and Thuram.”
The former Real Madrid and Juventus coach believes Inter have the obligation to finish in the Top eight positions.
“How can we not bet on it? Inter have twenty-two starters and it would be an insult to the players not to do so.”
