Aug. 9—GLADEVILLE — A racing league which hadn't seen Nashville Superspeedway in 16 years got in some Firestone tire testing Wednesday.
Scott Dixon, Colton Herta, Will Power and Pato O'Ward took their cars for some spins around the 1.3-mlie concrete oval to begin advance prep work for the season-ending Big Machine Music City Grand Prix to be held Sept. 15.
If a hot streak that's been dormant since 2008 means anything, Dixon may be the driver to beat as he won the last three Indy races here from '06-08.
"Lots of great memories here," Dixon said on indycar.com. "The team was always fast here. We had lots of wins here, which is always good.
"Hopefully we can have good side-by-side racing here like we did in the past. An oval to finish the season is always exciting."
Power, an Indy rookie in '08, was the only other driver on hand Wednesday who raced at NSS before, finishing 11th in the rain-shortened race.
