Ibrahimovic discusses recent form and January transfer window: “Bennacer will be back”
Zlatan Ibrahimovic spoke about the AC Milan situation ahead of their game against Slovan Bratislava in the Champions League, and he also gave an update on Ismael Bennacer.
There have been many wrong steps this season made by Milan. In Serie A, poor results have made a Scudetto fight very difficult, and in the Champions League, there have been some questions asked in the early stages.
It is certainly fair to suggest though, that the Rossoneri are in a better position in Europe than they are in Serie A, and the club will be hoping another positive result in the competition can improve things domestically.
Ahead of this evening’s important European game, Ibrahimovic spoke about the season so far, admitting that Milan had made the ‘wrong approach’ at times whilst also offering an update on things ahead of the January mercato. His statements to Sky have been relayed by Milan News.
Why is Milan so discontinuous between the Champions League and the league?
“The team must find the same concentration as against Real Madrid. Every game is important, if you want to get to the top in every game you have to be focused and perform. In some games we have made the wrong approach, but we have spoken with the team and they know what to do, they have to find that click.”
Will it be a different evening compared to Saturday?
“In my opinion today is totally different. Saturday was a close game with few chances, with an opponent that didn’t give you a chance to play. Today is totally different, we hope to do even more and bring home a different result.”
What is the feedback from the club to date?
“We are confident and we are working every day. We are all working with the same goals, the secret is to work.”
Have you thought about a market in January where you could take a player who defends a little bit more?
“In my opinion if we talk about defence then we defend the whole team, let’s not only blame the defenders. For the January market let’s remember that Bennacer will be back in a week, he will help us with his quality, he will be an extra in midfield. Then we will see from today to the market what will happen, after this game there are seven games.
“We are always with our eye open to see if we can bring something in, we are always in dialogue with the coach to see if there is something we need or don’t need.”
