Inter winger Tajon Buchanan got his first competitive minutes of the 2024-25 season as Canada beat Suriname 1-0 away in the CONCACAF Nations League quarter-finals over the weekend.

Buchanan gives Inter and Inzaghi boost after Canada return

The Nerazzurri wing-back played the final 12 minutes of Canada’s Nations League win after coming on as a substitute for Ali Ahmed. Junior Hoilett had scored the game’s only goal a few minutes earlier.

Buchanan has not featured at all for Inter in any competition so far this season after fracturing his tibia while away on international duty with Canada ahead of the Copa America over the summer.

He was expected to miss somewhere between four and six months of action while the bone healed. There was a gap of 139 days between Buchanan’s two most recent appearances.

Simone Inzaghi has included Buchanan on the bench for the last five club matches, including four in Serie A and the Champions League win over Arsenal, but the 25-year-old is still awaiting his first minutes of action in Nerazzurri colours this season.
