Barcelona and Real Madrid set to go to war for €130m-rated Bundesliga sensation in 2025

FC Barcelona’s activity in the recently concluded summer transfer window was rather tame given the high expectations that accompanied the club at the start of the window.

Financial obstructions and a weighty wage bill contributed to many of the Catalans’ grievances, preventing them from fully spreading their wings.

However, with Joan Laporta’s presidential reign reaching its final years, the club is showing progress on the monetary front, even if they may seem like baby steps.

With the 61-year-old set to remain in charge until 2026, it is highly likely that major signings will be made in the coming years to secure Laporta’s continued leadership.

Musiala on the agenda

Indeed, according to SPORT, among the big hitters piquing Barcelona’s interest is Bayern Munich sensation, Jamal Musiala.

The German international is seen as the ‘bomb’ signing for 2025 by Laporta, with the hope that the Catalans will be in a much better position financially next year.

Musiala’s contract with Bayern expires in 2026, but European giants will pursue him next summer as they are likely to land his services at a discounted rate.

With a starting price of €130 million, Barcelona are expected to face stiff competition from eternal rivals Real Madrid, who are notoriously eager to always enhance their arsenal with the very best players.

That said, Musiala’s admiration for Barcelona, Lionel Messi, and Pedri provides Barça an edge. The fact that Los Blancos also have their eyes set on players like Rodri also slightly diminishes their chances.

Moreover, Hansi Flick’s influence could be crucial, as his trust in Musiala helped him secure a first-team spot at Bayern Munich despite tough competition.

It goes without saying that Flick would welcome the young star at Barcelona with open arms, considering the success the pair found together previously.

Barcelona have no shortage of quality in the positions that Musiala occupies, but as has been proven year after year, teams can never have enough quality depth.

This sentiment especially gains weight with football’s packed schedules heightening the necessity for denser squads.

On top of that, when a player of Musiala’s quality is available on the market, sacrifices are often worth making.

Despite these lofty ambitions, financial limitations and potential sales will ultimately impact the club’s market strength.
