The Big Machine Music City Grand Prix, which is moving from downtown to Nashville Superspeedway on Sept. 15, will return to the same venue in 2025 with an earlier date.
The 2025 race will be Aug. 31, IndyCar announced. It will still serve as the season finale like this year.
The 2025 IndyCar season includes 17 races and begins on March 2 in St. Petersburg, Florida.
The Music City Grand Prix took place in downtown from 2021-23. The 2.17-mile track featured a 3,578-foot straightway over the Korean War Veterans Memorial Bridge.
The race was initially scheduled to return to downtown this year with a new course that still included the bridge. On Feb. 14, however, IndyCar announced the race would move to Nashville Superspeedway in Lebanon where it would be run on a 1.33-mile D-shaped concrete track.
The reason for the move was due to construction at the new Titans stadium. Construction on the new stadium began two weeks later.
The new date for the 2024 race was announced following the 2023 race.
Officials said the Music City Grand Prix would not likely to return to the downtown streets until after the construction of the new Nissan Stadium is completed sometime in 2027. The Music City Grand Prix signed a three-year extension to its deal, running through the 2026 season.
Qualifying for the 2024 Music City Grand Prix is set for Sept. 14. starting at 1:45 p.m. Practice will begin at 4:45 p.m.
The 206-lap race is Sept. 15 starting at 2:25 p.m.
Marcus Ericsson won the inaugural Music City Grand Prix in 2021. Scott Dixon won in 2022 and Kyle Kirkwood in 2023.
